25/09/2012: DIEGO Final Public Workshop
DIEGO project celebrates the International Conference on “e-INCLUSION & DIGITAL PUBLIC SERVICES”, taking place in Cambridge on 25th September at the McCrum Lecture Theatre, Corpus Christi College.
Local and regional governments across Europe face difficulties in meeting rising demands for effective and accessible eGovernment, although it is clear from strategies such as Europe 2020, which includes the Digital Agenda for Europe, that there is a requirement to meet such demands within a relatively short timeframe. Moreover, local authorities are key agents in promoting social and digital inclusion. There is a need at the local level across Europe for innovative, inclusive, flexible and affordable solutions to inclusion.
Over the past two and a half years, DIEGO has produced successful transnational collaboration between eleven partners from six European countries, developing a series of pilot projects operating at local and regional level with the involvement of the citizenship and IT developers. Our aim has been to provide access to e-Government services for all citizens in a user-friendly way available via multiple new technology channels.
The conference, which will involve representatives from the EU, UN, European Employment Observatory, UK Online, Telecentres Europe and Brunel University (plus others to be confirmed) will present the Digital Agenda for local and regional governments and demonstrate the use of digital platforms to empower employment policies and social inclusion. Good practice and new business models in e-Government will also be discussed.
This conference is addressed to local and regional authorities, non governmental organisations, voluntary and community sector organisations, charity organisations, higher and further educational establishments, private sector companies and individuals with accessibility requirements.
